"crumpled old photos of family members standing by their cars have been the trigger for my recent paintings, and for my sustained exploration of "live lines", continuous lines drawn quickly and all at once with lead pencil directly on the canvas over and around the images. these three paintings are also part of a larger body of work i call, "a century of rides", a century of wheels that wants to be memorialized. i know i've been at it since i was a kid —jalopies, rustbuckets, hotrods, family cars, all captured my eye and my imagination and inflamed my need to draw them. my love of cars lead me to becoming an artist."
